This week my blog will be a little different, the topic is:
Sports in Spain! As you all know I like
my sports, along with most of you so I thought it would be a very interesting topic to blog about!
Spain has a wide variety of sports that are played there,
but there are a few that a more popular than others. We all know that they have a major love for
soccer in Spain. You can tell if you watch any soccer games on TV, but Spain
has a consistency to dominate in that particular sport. The Spanish team has
made it to the Cup finals 12 years!
Soccer some will say is a major part in their culture. The soccer/football season runs through mid September
to mid May, but really it is played for fun year round and there are about 100
professional games happening each Saturday and Sunday. As some might say “One
of Spain’s religion’s is
soccer/football!”
Another very popular sport
in Spain is bullfighting, also being a major tradition is Spain. Many people will get together in an arena to
watch the crazy sport. This is also a
major tourist attraction that brings in many people just to come and watch the
bullfighting sport! Some will say that bullfighting shouldn’t be allowed
though, mainly through the animal rights, while others will say that it is a
tradition and very important to Spain’s heritage. Plus it is a loved sport
that watched throughout the world!
One of the reasons why sports are so popular in Spain is because
of the Summer Olympics in 1992. It had
showed the world some of Spain’s culture and their love for the Sports and
variety in their country. People began
to come to Spain to not only watch many sports but also come and play many
sports there! The summer Olympics had also increased some sports popularity in
Spain, such as golfing, tennis and some water sports. In other words, the summer Olympics in Spain
brought in an even larger range of sports for the Spanish then they already had
before.
Wow! that's very interesting Shae! I like sports as well, but I don't think I would be particularly good at bull fighting. I don't really like soccer either. It seems like spain is very good at soccer, though, since they won the World cup two years ago. Anyways, it was a very interesting blog and I am looking forward to reading your next one!
