Hello UMEI grade nine students!  The  country that I will be blogging about  is Spain.  The country of Spain has an approximate total population of 46 754 784 people and a total of 504 782 square kilometres.  This gives the country a density of 78 people per square kilometre.  Out of the total population though,  approximately 78% of the  people live in urban areas(cities/towns) and the other 22% of people live in rural areas.  The capital city of Spain is Madrid.  The population of Madrid is 5 103 000 people and it is located in the center of the country.  Spain has many popular cities such as  Barcelona, Sevilla, Valencia and Zaragoza and it contains a total of 50 provinces.  On the West side of Spain is Portugal, the some of the North side beside France and the East side beside the Mediterranean Sea.

  2. Spain has a way larger population density than Australia!! Spain’s population of about 46,000 is just over double Australia’s population, of about 22,000, however, Australia’s area is over 15 times as large as Spain’s area!! Spain has a population density of 78 people per square km, but Australia’s is only 2.92, or 3 people per square km. That’s a huge difference, but it’s very interesting!

  3. Wow! That is very interesting, Shae! From reading your comment it seems like our countries are very different. your country has 46 million people, while min only has 8.9 million. A pop. density of 78 people per sq. km. may be surprising to you, but the UAE has a pop density of 90 people. Isn't that amazing! I'm looking forward to reading your future posts.
